Summary of UTAC
services and facilities

  Passive safety

UTAC specialists conduct design and testing work on impact resistance of automotive subsystems and protection of vehicle occupants and other road users under collision conditions. Testing operations include vehicle approval procedures. UTAC is also an agreed Euro NCAP laboratory.

Engineers and technicians specialised in mechanical engineering, biomechanics and numerical simulation work in an ultramodern complex with comprehensive test facilities:

>   Crash test facility : for testing head-on collision against fixed or moving obstacles
>   Hyge sled for impact simulation (up to 1.5 tons at 70 g).
>   Subsystems catapult
>   Nine-cylinder traction testbench
>   Eight-wire pendulums
>   Drop tests
>   Energy dissipation pendulum
>   Stiffness test bench
>   Seat bench
>   Headform drop (free motion headform test)
>   Fixed headform test
>   Static turn over
>   Tension and compression
>   Rear-view mirror break-out bench
>   Pedestrian impact testbench
>   Data acquisition systems
>   Dummies (adults, children, front impact, side impact) with full instrumentation.
>   Load cell wall
>   Video measurement
>   Numerical simulation for fast-dynamic phenomena.
