services and facilities

  Emission and Energy Laboratory

The UTAC Emission and Energy Laboratory offers a wide range of services for bikes, light vehicles, industrial vehicles and public-transport vehicles. These services concern tests for approval as well as tests for design and development:

- Characterization of exhaust emissions
- Fuel consumption measurement
- Engine performance evaluation
- Modal analysis of emissions (to assess catalytic converter efficiency) and exhaust gas recycling rate (EGR)
- Development of pollutant sampling and analysis methodology
- Determination of emissions by evaporation (hydrocarbons, etc.)
- Physical and chemical characterization of fuels, lubricants and exhaust gases,
- Granulometric analysis of diesel vehicle aerosols (number, size and mass of particulates)
- Approval tests on gas analysers and opacimeters.

To provide these services, UTAC uses sophisticated technological facilities:

>   Design and development test cell for light-vehicle emissions
> Approval test cell for light-vehicle emissions
> Heavy vehicle test cell (industrial and public-transport vehicles)
> Bike test cell
> Dynamic shed (Chamber for measuring hydrocarbons by evaporation)
> Climatic chamber from -20° C to +40° C with hygrometry regulation and roller bed.
> Engine test cell performance and endurance trial (under upgrading).
